Making Arrangements

Getting going

When you telephone to make your booking please let us know the day on which you would like to make your first attempt to fly. Our advice is keep an eye on the weather, and call our flight line the day before and we'll let you know how it's looking for your day.

We try to keep all booking periods as short as we can, weather permitting. Re-bookings may be made from April until September during usual office hours.

Flight times

Usually balloons fly just after sunrise and two to three hours just before sunset and collection times, when flights are called to site, are a few hours before this. A typical collection time for a summer flight in the evening would be 7pm, but these times vary throughout the year. The most popular time to fly is March until October. We will of course advise you before you book, so that you are always aware where and when you have to be collected before you go flying!

Final flight confirmation

It's easy! Once you've booked an "attempt to fly date", call our flight line at the designated time (your special flight line number is on the reverse side of your voucher in your pack) and our flight information service kicks in with all the advice you need. If the flight is called to site, you simply listen and follow the directions.

Weather considerations

Your flight voucher provides all the information you need to confirm if your flight is going ahead.

Balloons are very sensitive to the weather and your flight may have to be rebooked regularly due to poor weather.

We make this process as simple as possible by informing you, in most cases, the day before you fly if there is a high or low chance of the flight going ahead.

John Warner (our own forecaster) the Met. Office, and many other services, provide us with our detailed preflight planning information, but even that is not always enough to predict a safe flight and occasionally, flights may be postponed on-site. We will of course immediately organize an alternative date until your flight goes ahead.

Have a wonderful flight

When the weather is good, all that is left for you to do is relax and enjoy the flight as the world moves below you.

After the safe landing and when care is taken with the landowner, whose co-operation we always need, we provide complimentary transport in our all terrain vehicles back to the launch site for the final memorable celebrations.

For our passengers we serve plenty of chilled vintage Champagne, and with your friends and family joining us to share the adventure, all you do is relax.

Finally we present you with a personal and colourful flight certificate to keep as a memento of your Imagination Balloon Flight.
